Avids top-spec brake system, now even lighter.
An exceptionally high performing brake system with a host of new features for 2012. Featuring the new TaperBore system which helps displace air bubbles keeping it seperate from the master cyclinder piston. The bladder is now made from a new material which dramatically reduces air permeability into the main master cyclinder piston. A new position for the bleed port and the new "Air-Trap" allows for much easier brake bleeds and far more consistent brake feel than previous models. Calipers are forged aluminium and have further been weight reduced and re-shaped for 2012. Avid moved to a forged aluminium body to help increase heat dissipation. Avid have chosen to forgoe the conical mounting caliper bolts in order to reduce the weight as much as possible. Calipers have an adjustable banjo so that routing the hose lines can be installed as tidy as possible. The levers can be mounted with the U-Clamp or MMX which are both included. The beauty of the MMX clamp system is that you can mount a X-Loc remote lockout onto the brake lever saving space and maintaing a tidy cockpit.
The rotors are the new HSX piece rotors which are now cross drilled and provide a smoother and quiet brake as well as improving lever feel and response - titanium rotor bolts are also included.
