Arguable one of the most versatile frame sets on the market. A high performance frame set which blends the boundary of road and cross geometry alongside geometry to handle mountain bike tires.
The U.P will fit MTB tires of up to 2.1", 40" cross tires or even 28mm road tires while keeping geometry all in check for fast, nimble handling no matter what wheel type / size you choose. You will notice the radically dropped driveside chainstay that opens up the options for the big MTB tyres - it also adds a larger surface area for more material to be laid, further increasing torsional stiffness.
Open uses a philosophy of placing the right tensile carbon in the right areas. Ultra high-mod carbon is more brittle and is not ideal for high impact areas - like the head tube! Then Open U.P utilises an advanced layup which is a blend of high and low modulus fibres strategically placed throughout the frame. It balances stiffness, ride quality, weight and comfort.
A large wide and flattened down tube resists twisting forces - which is an effect when standing up and torquing the handlebars. It creates a solid plane between the bottom bracket and head tube - which leads to accurate steering and cornering. A 27.2mm seatpost size allows a bit more compliance in the rear along with the wire seat stays
ThuThread axle is a special system that uses the threads to old the thru-axle and lock down the derailleur into the frame. It's a stiff design and compatible with a range of 12mm thru-axles.
