Highest performance to price ratio on the market

If you are looking for a stiff, durable and well priced training wheelset - the BOYD Rouleur is an excellent option. At 1527g it is still light enough to take up long mountain passes but like the whole range of BOYD wheels they are stiff, feel amazing under power and feature one of the widest hub flanges available on the market which not only puts stiffness on another level, the stability is noticeable when hammering out of the saddle or weighting the bars when climbing. Completely hand built in the USA, they are stress relieved several times so that means your wheels are 100% ready to roll right out of the box - They even come with Skewers, Rim tape so no more cannibalizing those old wheels. Open Box, install wheels and ride your bike.

Rims

A 30mm deep profile adds to the aero benefits and increases stiffness while the 19mm rim width helps straighten the tyre sidewall and add extra volume to automatically improve ride quality. Machined sidewalls, braking is smooth and quiet.

Spokes and Nipples

Sapim Race with Sapim Brass Black all round. BOYD opts for the brass because it builds a more durable wheel that will last and last... and last. 2-cross on BOTH sides of the rear hub means torque is transferred from your hub directly to the tarmac. The 6 pawl hub can handle up to 3000watts of thighs-of-justice power so you know engagement is crisp, secure and direct.

Hubs

The Boyd hubs are sleepers, they are wide - which dramatically raises bracing angles and creates a far stiffer and stable wheel. They bearings are as far out to the outer edge as possible, reduces bearing bind, improves stability and they spin like butter. The rear uses a 6pawl freehub which can handle loads of power (3000w). CNC machined, ano black, laser etched. Understated looks but high on performance.

Hubs are both 11 and 10speed compatibility, if you are on 10speed and looking at moving to 11sp in the near future opt for the 11speed with the 1.8mm spacer. You do lose a little bit of stiffness due to the lower flange spacing (BOYD sweats the small details). If you you opt for a 10speed freehub body you will need to change the freehub + re-dish the rear when you finally move over to the 11speed option.
