Sharp Handling. European Engineering.
Continuing their collaboration with AMADE and following the development of the Award Winning BLAST, the 29ER Carbon is a work of art. MSC wanted to create a hardtail that took advantage of the larger wheel size, offer a high-end ride quality and just perform and feel razor sharp and responsive through all types of terrain. To reach the stiffness numbers MSC did not just oversize everything, rather they balanced skillful engineering and design to reach a level of beautiful aesthetics and elegance. The front head tube is externally gusseted - a design that was first used on their ultralight Koncept XC bikes, it reduces weight and creates an external truss that aids in dispersing loads and shocks into the top and down tubes. The top tube is wide and flattened aiding in the smooth ride characteristic, they join seamlessly to the rear stays which have had a special carbon layup which allows flexion, providing shock absorption over rattly and bone jarring terrain.
A unique dropout systems utilise a two pieces system that sandiwchs a solid carbon insert which creates an extremely stiff and durable structure - it also helps transmit the vibration and shock in the chain and seatstays where they are dispersed by the carbon layup - which went through 5 iterations to reduce high frequency vibrations. A Pressfit 30 bottom bracket maximises surface area contact with the chainstays and down tube - a very wide box section that carries flowing elegance with the sharp striping decals.
The seatpost is 31.6 and the rear axle is compatible with 9mm x 135 or 12mm x 135 Maxle standards. There is a S3 High Direct Mount front derailleur and the headset accepts a tapered semi-integrated type. Cables are all internally routed with inbuilt tubes running internall in the frame.
- Internal Cable routing for gear and brake
- Internal routing with guides so maintenance is quick and simple
- "CarboFlex" seatstays reduce vibrations and increase comfort
- Low profile top tube for maximum stand over clearance
- Oversized downtube and PF30 bottom bracket standard
- Sandwich type dropouts for a stiff derailleur-to-frame interface. Adaptable to 9mm open and 12x135QR standards
- XX1 Compatible
