Havn't heard of NEILPRYDE? The formidable Sports Brand that has dominated the watersports market for the last 30years. Numerous awards for design excellence, innvovation and manufacturing skills and not to mention the handful of world records. They claim to be "carbon fiber" experts and with over 25yrs experience in composites it would be hard to argue with them.

But doesn't NEILPRYDE make windsurfing gear? Yeah they do, and still do and are very good at it. Think about how much knowledge of the wind is required to break the World Speed record of 50knots, the massive forces of pulling and pushing on a composite boom the level of precision to balance the speed, elements and the fine edge of wiping out. Now apply this knowledge, experience into producing a high-end carbon fibre bicycle. On first impressions of the NAZAR it is very clear NEILPRYDE has done their homework, every tubeset is radically shaped not only to slip through the wind but to increase rigidity - the truncated airfoils are a good example of this. The heavily shaped tubes actually produce low drag at wide yaw angles, so when the wind is hitting you from the side the wind is able to slip right through frame rather than acting like a big fat sail. So they know how to cheat the wind but what about the aesthetics? - NEILPRYDE worked with BMW Designworks USA to further refine the frame designs and aesthetics.

NEILPRYDE have self proclaimed themselves as being the "Carbon Fiber" experts while some might not think of them at the forefront of carbon fiber design when it comes to bicycles but taking a closer look into the history of the brand reveals that they have actually been working with Carbon fiber since the early 80's, those were the days when we had cycling greats riding lugged steel frames, NEILPRYDE was quietly perfecting carbon layups for their carbon fiber booms.

Riding the NAZAR you actually get a good feel on the the amount of experience NEILPRYDE has, the bikes ride extremely smooth, geometry is very race oriented and they have a stable feel at high speeds. Partly attributed to the stability is the low bottom bracket drop of 70mm (MED), keeping the the centre of mass as low as possible. NEILPRYDE have staggered the drop to 75mm for the small and xs frames to help with crank clearance assuming you will be running a 170mm crank arm.

The NAZAR works it's advantage as a stiff aero bike to be a top-pick of those who really like to break away from the bunch, the puncheurs that attack at every opportunity. Race oriented geometry provides the pilot with a long and low position with a very logical approach to reach with increments in 5mm throughout the sizes, a sensible approach that we hope more manufacturers take note of. Pair the NAZAR with a set of deep carbon wheels and you might just have that advantage over your buddies on hard group rides.

The pinched head tube is tapered to 1.5" and flares at the base to create a smooth interface with the wide stance fork which aid in the precise handling of the NAZARɠ. A design collaboration with BMW Group DesignworksUSA and PRO input from the United Healthcare Pro Cycling team the NAZAR is easy to setup long low for that fast aero positioning.

A heavily shaped downtube, not only provides stiffness but carefully manages laminar and turbulent airflow and the extended Kamm-tail design smooths airflow over the bottom bracket junction which continues back to the aero shaped seat and chainstays. The bottom bracket is massive, and plays a major role in the responsiveness of the NAZARɠ. The bottom bracket uses the PF30 standard and gear housing are all routed internally, the rear brake line is routed through the top tube. All bikes come with the a NEILPRYDE carbon aero seatpost which is secured in the frame with the Q-fit clamp, the frame cannot accept any conventional seatpost. The NAZARɠis finished in matte black with raw UD sections and the typical NEILPRYDE blue. The finish is also impeccable and inspecting inside the frame you'll see a smooth finish and no left over compression bladder in sight.
